Seamus turns 7 today. At the calmest of times he can still be best described as a monkey on fire. You gotta love the enthusiasm he has for his birthday. Even when his little sister could only afford to give him a $1 box of candy for his birthday, he unwrapped it with the same enthusiasm as he did for bigger, more expensive gifts.
In our family, the birthday person gets to decide what the family does that day. Marshall has to work, so it's all on me today. Though Marshall did leave a pre-recorded message for him on his computer.
I love that Seamus is the kind of kid who is full of confidence. Not arrogance, but confidence. He decided he wants to go to his favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch in Pasadena. And he wants to play at a particular park in Burbank. And he wants ice cream at a place in Northridge. His big brother wanted Seamus to stay home and play Xbox, and was giving him a hard time about going to the park. Finally Seamus said in a very cheerful voice, "Haven, we're going to the park. If you don't want to play at the park, you can SIT DOWN. They have benches there, you know." All I could do was smile and be proud of my sweet, energetic boy and his love for life. He didn't let his brother's grumblings get him down. In fact, his good attitude helped turn around his brother's stinky attitude. Without prompting from me, Haven saw that his attitude was stinky and apologized after breakfast to Seamus. Seamus graciously accepted his apology.
Now, off to the birthday adventures. All I can say is, I'm glad I filled up my gas tank yesterday. Now... for the fun!!
