Birthmother's Day

Photobucket

I'd like to wish a Happy Birthmother's Day to all the birthmothers out there. Especially Seamus' birthmom Alexa, who is a very important part of our lives.

Birthmother's Day was created by a group of birthmothers in Seattle in 1990. It always falls on the day before Mother's Day since birthmothers are the adopted child's first mother.

While Marlie's birthmother is deceased, we look forward to finding ways to honor her memory when Marlie is older.

Happy Birthmother's Day, Alexa. We love you always and forever.

  9. Not being a part of an adoptive family, I had no idea this holiday existed, but I LOVE the concept behind it. And I think the way you integrate Alexa into your life is really special for all of you. Way cool!
