Wacky Wednesday #45

This is a very special Wacky Wednesday: Father-in-law Edition!

As I mentioned previously, last Fall my in-laws bought a house across the street from us to use as a vacation home so they could visit more often and stay for longer periods of time. I must say they have totally been a God-send during this visit, helping out with the kids, and helping Marshall and I during this very stressful time in our lives. I'm definitely in a much better place (mood-wise) now than I was when they first arrived. And despite our begging and pleading for them to stay, they are leaving tomorrow to go back to Louisiana.

But this is specifically about my father-in-law. He puts up with my giggles every time he says something decidedly Southern like "britches" and "poop" (information) and "dinner" (lunch). He's even a good sport when I tease him about his coveralls and overalls that he wears every time he does a household project.

So... he had wanted to go into the crawlspace under his house and wanted Marshall to stand outside in case he needed anything. Why did he want to go under the house? "Just to look around." he says. So while he was under the house, Marshall texted me to tell me that his dad was wearing overalls and a head lamp. So I insisted that Marshall take a picture of his dad for my next Wacky Wednesday post. You know, to have his phone camera ready to ambush his dad the minute he started to crawl out of the hole. (I'm such a nice daughter-in-law, aren't I?) In the meantime Marshall made some mention about his feet were currently sticking out of the crawl space hole. So I had Marshall take a picture and email it to me. *tee hee*

So Marshall was poised and ready when Paw Paw came out of the crawl space. But you know what? He had already taken his headlamp off! FAIL!!!

I mentioned this evening at dinner (or according to Paw Paw it was "supper") that he had ruined my Wacky Wednesday post by taking off the headlamp before he exited the crawl space. I blackmailed him by threatening to post an embarrassing picture of him talked him into dressing up in the same overalls and headlamp so I could get a picture of him and still use it for my Wacky Wednesday post.

Isn't that awesome!!! And what a great sport too. We love you Paw Paw!!! Thanks for re-creating your crawlspace outfit just so I can post it on my blog for the whole wide world to see. You rock!!! Especially since you put up with your wacky daughter-in-law.

  3. Love it! My paw paw has passed away. It has been 11 years now. He wasn't my papa, but my paw paw. :) And being in the south I totally get the britches and supper thing. What a handsome southern gentleman. Doesn't Marshall ever use southern slang?

  8. I don't think he looks wacky or cute. I think he looks all business and like he could really fix some serious stuff. And he looks younger than I expected. I'm glad you have him to take care of under the house type of things.

  9. Awww, what a sweet guy. I love that they have a vacation house across the way from you.

Then again, I think he looks rather like the witch in the Wizard of Oz when the house landed on her. NOT that your FIL is a witch in any way!

  10. Of COURSE the mid-day meal is "dinner" and the later one is "supper." I'm not a southerner, but I grew up calling them that. I generally avoid the "dinner" term because of its ambiguity.

Fun pics! (I definitely thought of the Wizard of Oz with that first one, though!)
