We have a membership to the zoo, so on Friday we decided to go. I love going to the zoo. I know, me... loving a place where there are animals??! *shocking*
Here are some of my favorite pictures of the animals we saw...
These guys crack me up every time!
I never remember the name of this animal, but I do remember they are from Ethiopia. And Marshall captured this one in mid-chew, which is awesome.
Awwww... she's just a big kitty. I bet I could snuggle up right next to her and scratch her head!
Ok now this guy... he was staring at me in this picture. Marshall was standing a few yards away from me, but trust me when I say that the lion was staring at me in this picture. In fact when he first looked up at me, I widened my eyes and stared at him. Then I did the kitty blink at him. Are you familiar with the kitty blink? It's a form of nonverbal communication cats do with each other and humans can do with cats. I've been skilled in the art of kitty blinking for years now. Think I'm making this up? Go ahead... CLICK HERE to read about kitty blinking. Ah-hem... TOLD YOU SO. (just sayin')
Anyway, I had this lion's attention and he and I were having a staring contest when I did the kitty blink at him. And you know what? He did the kitty blink back to me! Just to prove that it wasn't a fluke, I did the kitty blink at him 3 more times. Each time he'd do it back. Marshall knows all about the kitty blink, and YET he doesn't believe me that the lion was blinking back to me. WHAT?!!! Not cool, Marshall. NOT COOL. I wouldn't make something like this up. I'm like the animal whisperer or something.
And Marshall should know this because I have an amazing ability to make noises that capture the attention of the animals so Marshall can get a good picture like this!
and this one...
And this is the thanks I get? Harrrumph. I might just forget my special "animal whispering" skills next time Marshall wants to take a picture at the zoo. Uh, huh. That'll show him.
On our way out, we saw my favorite animals... two monkeys playing together. In fact, one was trying to pull the pants off the other one. We snagged them when the zoo keepers weren't looking and took them home with us.
