Today we packed a lunch and had a little picnic at a local Train Museum that we've been going to for years. Best thing about this place... it's FREE. And we like "free" these days. We warned our kids when we got there that we would not buy tickets to ride the miniature train around the park and we would not be getting anything from the gift shop and they were great sports about it.
My one beef with this place is that most of the trains have chains up so you can't climb in. And this time even more of their cars were closed for restoration. Some trains are only available for birthday parties. But a few trains you can climb up and they're pretty fun.
This train apparently is open only on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Why? Who knows!

This picture made me laugh, because apparently I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy.

We did enjoy climbing up in the few trains that were open. Marshall got a cute picture of the kids in this train...

But there was this one train that the kids always love to climb in and we love to take pictures of them in. It's an old orange train. Here's a picture we took a couple of years ago with the kids in this train.

And an even older picture with Haven when he was still an only child...

So when we first got to the Train Museum, I told Marshall... the only picture I really want is of the kids in that orange train. Since it was by the exit, it was the last train we saw. And you know what? It was CLOSED and roped off! FAIL!!!
So I did what any normal mother would do. I made Marshall take a picture of the empty train and photoshop the kids into the train windows.

That's called turning lemons into lemonade, folks.
nice photoshopping :) I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't told us!
ReplyDeletethis reminds me of those boxcar children books I read as a child! AWW
ReplyDeletestupid CLOSED train car. I thought for sure when you said that you "did what any mother would do", that that meant marching the kiddos right over the roped off door! Your solution was probably a much better one to teach said kiddos respect for authority ... ;-)
ReplyDeleteFun Museum. I would love that.
ReplyDeleteyou crack me up... I need to learn photoshop!
ReplyDeletelol..i thought you took the kids and put them in the window....lol..very good job of photo shopping though
ReplyDeleteMy oldest loves trains. Well, he used too. I love the pics. You have beautiful kiddos. And as always your sense of humor RULES!!:)
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious!! Love that photoshopped photo. Hehe!
ReplyDeleteThe whole photoshopping thing was brilliant!!!! And I giggled to at the "do not hump" sign!!! My mind's always in the gutter!!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Twitter Moms!
What would you do without those mad photoshop skills? BAHAHAHAHA We take a picture every year at our zoo in front of the penguin statues. One year I realized they could remove them at some point and then I would have to hurt someone. So far they haven't. Don't they know moms like things to stay the same? Can they not grasp that?
ReplyDelete(I must have the same sense of humor by the ways...giggle, giggle, snort)
Hmmm. How exactly does someone hump a train? I'm so confused.
ReplyDeleteAnd the train museum? Those are fun! There's one not too far from us that we haven't been to in a long time that has tons of fun stuff to climb on and explore and YES many that are frustratingly closed.
I love the Photoshop :)
*snickers* You and I both have the same sense of humor. It's like when you see signs that say "speed humps" instead of "speed bumps." I can't help but giggle. Thank God the kids aren't old enough to ask why mommy is laughing. Or why daddy laughed too and then did his best Beavis and Butthead impression by going "heh heh - that says "hump."
