Wacky Wednesday #38

Apparently this year my stylist mom was going for the Peter Pan look. And I think Tinkerbell must have had a little too much pixie dust when she tried to cut my hair, uh, evenly.

  1. Okay, you look JUST like Haven in this picture...minus the red/crooked hair, that is :)

  5. You know, sometimes it's HARD to drag kids to the hairstylist. And sometimes their hair is in their eyes. So SOMETIMES you just have to cut it yourself. (Yeah, I cut GFP's hair, and no, it's never in a straight line.) ;)

  6. I had the same kind of cut, from my mother, but I was going for a Dorothy Hamil look.

  7. What! What were our parents thinking? I have similar photos, and really! We are not doing that to our kids.

  10. Your son Haven looks a lot like you :)

My Mom did the same thing to me at a similar age...I was horrified and never cut my hair for like...10 years after except for trims and such.

Your blog always puts a smile on my face :D

  13. Well, I just found my long lost twin! Girl, we looked so much alike at this age! What were our moms thinking??? My mom also made my dress that looks so similar to yours. That year, I went to the drugstore for my mom and the pharmacist said, "Son, what can I help you with?" I was so angry at my mom for that haircut!!

  14. That's so funny, cuz the same thing happened to me once. I had very long, thick hair and while taking swimming lessons it had to be smooshed up into a swim cap. My mom was tired of combing out the horrendous rat's nest that spontaneously spun itself at the base of my skull. Besides, I cried and yelled a lot cause it hurt (I was in kindergarten). So she took me to get my hair cut. Yep, you guessed it - pretty much the Peter Pan thang. I absolutely hated it! People didn't know if I was a boy or a girl at times.

Thanks for the ride down memory lane! :D LOL!

  16. Ah, nostalgia at it's best! My bane was a tight curly perm called a 'poodle'. Maybe that's why I don't care for the dogs...

  19. I love this picture. You look adorable. Ahh!

I have a bad hair pic from second grade. My mom washed my hair then braided it into 3 puffy plaits for school. She forgot picture day was the next day.

Luckily, it's a classroom picture and no one is able to recongize me .

  20. You're a brave brave lady putting that pic up there. I run in fear of my childhood pics. On the plus side, my mom looooooooooooved long hair, so it wasn't until fourth grade that I convinced her to start butchering it for me. On the other hand, she was far more into curls than my hair was. Love the pixie dust cut ;)

  21. You look adorable! And those bowl cuts are harder than they look.

  22. When I was 7 I went to the hairdresser and asked for the Dorothy Hamill haircut. I was way cool.

  23. Ah, Julie .. this is why I love you. You show pictures like these with zero shame.

While I hide mine away in boxes =-)

Crooked hair or not, you were a total future hottie!

  24. One word: HAVEN. Seriously, could you two look any more alike?? Wow. That is crazy. I am guessing all of the other bloggers have made the same comment but I couldn't help myself. I am guessing Haven will read this one day and shake his head back and forth saying "thanks mom". You both are beautiful!!
