I'm Totally Lost

I did it. I joined the bandwagon, just like I swore I wouldn't. I resisted for 5 years while EVERYONE told me how awesome it was and how I should watch it. But I resisted. Because after Buffy (and Angel) went off the air, I swore I'd never be a slave to a weekly television show again, counting down the days until each week's new episode.

So what changed? In 2006, when we were getting ready for our day and 1/2 journey to Ethiopia to bring home our daughter, we bought the 1st Season of Lost for our laptop, thinking we could watch it on the plane. Well we apparently never gave it another thought after downloading it to the laptop. I don't know why, but we never watched it on the plane, and completely forgot we even bought it. About 5 weeks ago I remembered we had it, so we decided to watch just the first season and see if it was worth watching. (since we already had it)

It's been 5 weeks and we've just finished Season 4 last night. Yep, that's 83 episodes in 5 weeks. Apparently I've tackled Lost like I tackled Buffy, Harry Potter and Twilight.

We've got the current episodes of Season 5 stored on our DVR. We only have 7 episodes left before we're caught up with everyone else. I'm not exactly sure how to go from watching 3 to 5 episodes/night to watching one episode a week. I'm slightly concerned of what it might do to me. I'm thinking loss of appetite, shaking and night sweats. It's not going to be pretty.

I'm gonna need a good supply of Dr Pepper to get me through this.

  1. YAY for LOST! I loooove it. I totally understand how you feel about having to wait for a WHOLE WEEK between episodes. It is torturous. I used to feel the same way about 24 before it got to be lame.

Oh, and once you get caught up...go to www.thefuselage.com

Best site ever. There are forums for people to discuss the episodes. It will, at the very least, make you not feel like a loser when you see how many people are completely so over-the-top obsessed with this show that they have memorized every detail of every episode...

  2. It's funny that your introduction was meant to be on your way to Miss. Marlie. And my introduction to Twilight was supposed to be on our trip to Miss. Tess! Funny how our minds were WAY not able to handle anything but the journey we were on!

  3. We did that with Smallville. Watched a whole season on a weekend. It was actually really nice. But I can only handle so many "suck-u-in" shows. The waiting is the pits. :O

  4. LOL, I will NEVER watch this show. I can't handle another obsession.

  5. Other than seeing bits and pieces when flipping channels I've not watched it. I agree with Leigh, I don't need another obsession. Hope you enjoy it!

p.s. Nice pic of you and Edward. You crack me up! Great picture of you; you are so damn pretty!

  6. Pass the Dr. Pepper.

I LOVE Lost. We rent it on Netflix, so we are a season (or two????) behind. But oh yea, we watch them as quickly as we get them and I even up my queue to three at a time during the time we are watching it.

  7. Welcome to the club! I've been watching past episodes online because it's been several years since I've seen them and I've forgotten a lot of what's happened. It also helps with the waiting for the new episode to air. Once you get caught up start checking out Jeff Jensen's recaps on ew.com. He has a lot of great insight into the literary and biblical references. It helps me really appreciate how "smart" this show is compared with all the other nonsense on tv.

  10. I soooo feel your pain, Girl! And, I can confirm, it will be painful! We don't have cable but we do have a TV and DVD player for movies. We subscribed to Netflix a while back and got totally hooked on LOST. We've been caught up for quite a while and I'm tellin' you it hurts! Especially because without cable we can't even watch it once a week! We have to wait for the current season to come out on DVD. Ughhh...And there's just no replacement...we tried. Grey's Anatomy helped a little, but, sadly, there's just no comparison. Jack still appears to me in me dreams; YUMMY, that man. Good luck, and I'm here for you.

  11. We LOVE watching series like this. We did it with Alias, 24 and Prison Break. I always go through a small funk when we catch up.

    Lost is good stuff.

  12. I lurve LOST. And it's my plan to watch the whole thing over again when it's all over. So that I can pick through the beginning episodes for all the stuff I didn't catch on the first go round.

  13. I have managed to stay OFF this bandwagon...so far...

  14. Kel and I did the same thing, cramming in as many episodes a night as we could.

Now I cannot watch an episode without him .. it's just not the same without a Lost buddy. We always end up being shocked at the exact same time, punching each other in the shoulder and jumping up and down in excitement ..

well, that could just be me =-)

  15. I'm definitely a Lostie. I've been watching it from the beginning and love it. My only complaint is they go SO long between seasons. I love Sawyer and Sayid and Jack, but honestly, my favorite character is Hurley.

  16. In my head, I'm chanting sucker sucker sucker... but I'm really cheering you on. btw if you DVR all episodes of Lost, there are several on a day, and it's pretty cool to watch them out of order and see things that pop up in later episodes that you totally missed as unimportant. Plus, lots of them are the Lost 2.0 with helpful commentary. Just sayin'....
