So... after our 10 years of living here, someone decides they need to have a GINORMOUS sign warning people to slow down while they pass the big fence that keeps the school children away. And that someone decided that sign should go right in front of my purple house.
And I hate the sign. And I'm thinking evil thoughts about cutting it down or blowing it up. But then I thought... all this negativity isn't healthy. Maybe I should look at this from a different angle...
Maybe the nice city people chose to put that sign in front of my house, to announce my homeschool. Yeah, that must be it. Man, those city people are so thoughtful.
I am serious about this... you should paint the sign purple... seriously to match your house!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, that is very thoughtful of the city, to give you your own free sign. Maybe they'll give you a crossing guard, next.
ReplyDeleteI love your interpretation - and Julie's right . . . you should paint it purple and then plead ignorance! hehehehe
ReplyDeletethat's what I was thinking,,they're announcing your school! :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you turned that around to work in your favor!
ReplyDeleteBut I guess if you painted it purple, they might just guess whodunnit???
ReplyDeleteOptimist. If they were announcing your homeschool the sign would have definitely been purple, well at least lavender, or lilac.
ReplyDeleteThe comments have just made me laugh as hard as the post. I have nothing to add to this brilliant dose of wit.
ReplyDeleteIs that a turquoise house I see next to your purple house?
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so taking loads of pictures in a few weeks.
Oh Julie, you made me laugh out loud once again!
ReplyDeleteTake a Sharpie and draw two more stick figures on the sign to make it more accurate! :)
You could always tag the sign and tell the city it needs to be removed because is is bringing a "criminal element" to your door. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting on my BAtW day! :) I love Ethiopia! Where did you visit there?
That is so funny. Is it a warning sign? Be careful...crazy homeschoolers live here?
ReplyDeleteTake the sign down! It will take them another decade to realize it...just do it!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice chatting with you last night @ gno.
Brandy
Well, now your homeschool is properly labeled!
ReplyDeleteTime for a BIG BLACK SHARPIE addition to that sign, methinks.
ReplyDelete;)
lol. good for you for being so optimistic. I know what I'd be thinking.
ReplyDeleteI think they're saying they legally recognize your homeschool. I agree with the other comments about painting the sign purple. Too funny!
ReplyDeletePurple house, yellow sign... Sounds to me like you got some Minnesota Vikings colors going on... and I am a fan!
ReplyDeleteThat's great. I'd soo not be able to see the upside there.
ReplyDeleteI love your purpleness here too. I read a book recently about an uprising that took advantage of our country's extreme split down red/blue lines..was kind of scary.
I think so many of "US" are not for the extremes taking over you know?
(I could be crazy)

Could you just decorate the sing... make it look nicer, with like, some purple ribbon or something?
ReplyDeleteI say you paint the word "home" over the school part. In purple, perhaps? Oooh no! Make it green that way they'll never suspect you!
ReplyDeleteThere are any number of signs in my neighborhood that I'd like to cut down. However, I like your theory that someone was thoughtful enough to announce you homeschool. It's your tax money hard at work.
ReplyDeleteLet's see...I vote for Putting a Purple Home in front of the school. Hilarious post!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by... I love your positive attitude!
ReplyDeleteWow your own sign for you home-school...now that is saying something...lol...I think everyone is right..you should decorate it...make it a kid project... :)
ReplyDeleteHey! Now I want one. And I agree, maybe purple ribbons on the post, you know in case you have reservations about defacing city property.. =)
ReplyDeleteSpray it purple!!
ReplyDeleteyou realize that yellow is the complementary color to purple... it will just make your house look that much brighter :-)
ReplyDeleteACK! Julie stole my thought! Paint it PURPLE! YAHOO! :D
ReplyDeleteplant a vine at the bottom of the sign it will disappear!
