One Fantastic Birthday!

I am preempting this week's Wacky Wednesday post, to tell you what a great birthday I had, thanks to my awesome husband. First, a little background info:

Many of you know that I'm currently a fan obsessed with the Twilight Saga (books 1-4). And I'm currently on my second time through them. Even though Marshall will start working on the Twilight movie at the end of the month, he is not nearly as excited as I am. Because it's a romance. And every time I mention anything about Twilight, he rolls his eyes.

Ok, now back to my birthday morning... I woke up this morning and turned on my computer. I noticed right away that my desktop picture had been changed to this:

I know, I know, I flipped out and just about passed out... though I tried to keep it together so my husband wouldn't know just how obsessed I am with this... though I think he might already know.

Anyway, there was also a video window open on my desktop, so I pushed play, and I saw this...

Then my sweet boys gave me their handmade cards. Then Marshall gave me my first gift, which was this....

I couldn't believe my eyes! After all the teasing and the eye rolling, and he actually went out and bought this for me! Funny side story... he told me that when he was at Hot Topic, picking out this Twilight shirt, the sales lady came right up to Marshall and said to him, "Team Edward or Team Jacob???". And Marshall looked back at her with a stunned look on his face and said... "Uh, this is for my wife."
Oh, and you know I totally wore this shirt for my birthday!

Then Marshall excused himself and came back with a dozen purple roses...

And apparently my BIG gift was this beautiful purple Coach purse, with a matching purple purse charm.

We went to lunch at my favorite Mexican Restaurant. After all, my birthday is also Mexican Independence Day. So I had a Dos Equis (or two) to celebrate both occasions.

Then Marshall took me somewhere I've always wanted to go... to Buffy Summer's house in Sunnydale Torrance. Those of you who know me well, know I'm a Buffy freak.

And since we were just three blocks away, we drove on over to Sunnydale High School. (where Buffy and her friends went to high school... which is really Torrance High School)

And in case you thought that was a lot of spoiling and pampering, Marshall also sent me to a fancy schmancy spa where I had an hour deep tissue massage by "Sascha from Russia". Did I mention Sascha is a bodybuilder? She's awesome, and I have no knots in my shoulders anymore, but I'm going to be bruised for a few days. After the massage, I had a whirlpool seaweed and juniper oil bath... where the bath attendant put cucumber slices on my eyes, covered by a wet washcloth, and she gave me water to drink, and fresh sliced fruit on ice. And she kept my robe in the sauna, so when the bath was over, she handed me my steaming hot robe. Awesome!

For dinner we stayed in, ordered pizza and watched the first Harry Potter movie as a family.

After the kids were in bed, Marshall and I cuddled on the couch and watched an old Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode.

All this Twilight, Harry Potter and Buffy stuff might not be for everyone, but for me it was just PERFECT. Did I mention Marshall even wore a purple shirt for my birthday? (yes, real men wear purple) I am one lucky woman, and I know it.

Thank you all for your birthday wishes!

  3. Best. Birthday. Ever. Ev-ah!

My screen saver has been Bella & Edward (same as yours--but with the original release date--12/12/08!) since May. But mine doesn't have loving wishes from the Cullens on it!

You did NOT go to "1630 Revello Drive." (Yes, I know her address.) You didn't. Not really. 'Cause that would've ushed me over the edge.

I must have that purse. In fact, when I order mine later today please remember that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That. Bag. Will. Be. Mine.

Yeah, I'm jealous. And your sweet kids are gorgeous and adorable and loving and...

    You are blessed!

  8. Your birthday sounds like it was perfectly tailored to you! The kiddos' video is darling, and the purple pillows they're sitting between made me smile :-)

Ok, between the gushings of you and Darcy and about a million others, I guess I've really got to read the Twilight series. I do so hope I win Darcy's giveaway, cause the library has a super-duper long wait...

  16. I agree with Lula .. best birthday EVER! I'm so showing this to my hubs when he comes home .. he'll be as jealous as I am that you got to see Buffy's home AND highschool. Thanks for sharing pictures! And I had no idea roses came in purple .. I could just pass out from the purple excitment!

I had no idea there was a Team Edward Team Jacob debate, though I should have assumed. I have to say I was totally pulling for Jacob, actually. He just won my heart, that big, beautiful boy. Then Edward stole it back and .. ugh! The back and forth was enough to leave me emotionally unstable for a few days! My husband was very happy when I finished that book ;o)

I'm still reading round 1! So sooo funny! Happy Birthday!
